Secure your spot in the 2011 GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend. More than 25,000 participants competed last year in Missouri’s largest fitness event, which features 10 different races for all ages and fitness levels. The event is set for April 9 & 10, 2011 and starts and finishes in downtown St. Louis. The race course includes views of the Gateway Arch, Busch Stadium, Anheuser-Busch Inbev Brewery, Forest Park, City Garden and the UCity Loop. Participants receive top quality amenities, including a Brooks tech shirt and a finisher medal. Lots of crowd support and festive race course entertainment make this a must-do event for your spring calendar.
Popular Half Marathon Race Continues to Expand
The half marathon, presented by PNC Bank continues to increase in participants each year. Last year's race sold out months in advance at 12,500 entrants. To accommodate additional runners, the participation cap has been increased to 15,000 this year. Make plans to secure your spot early for this race, as registrations are ahead of last year at this point. The half marathon has become one of the largest in the U.S., and a must-run race for the Spring.

The previous St. Louis record of 3,330 10K finishers was set in 1989. The men’s winner was Mathew Chesang from Merian, KS with a time of 30:29, finishing second was Big River Running Company’s Adam MacDowell, posting a 30:45. Dan Strackeljahn from Glen Carbon, IL finished third at 31:51. On the women’s side, Kansas City, MO runner Melissa Todd finished the course in 35:20. She was closely followed by last year’s winner - Julie Lossos at 35:57 and third place finisher Margaret Lyons, who finished in 36:15. Timing
Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K
GO! St. Louis uses the ChronoTrack system to simplify the timing process for athletes. This system uses a D-tag that is single-use and waterproof.  Simply pull the D-Tag off your race bib and attach it to your shoe. Once the D-tag is attached
to your shoe, you will quickly forget that it is even there! Remember your timing device (D-Tag) does not start timing you, until you officially cross the chip mat, near the large GO! St. Louis inflatable start line. There will be several additional timing chip maps located along the course to record your progress and a final chip mat at the finish line. If you forget to affix your
D-Tag prior to the race, you will not receive an official time. For more information, visit the ChronoTrack web site.
Marathon Relay Teams
You will receive a special hand-held D-Tag that will be exchanged between runners on your team.

Corral Start
We will utilize a corral starting system for the 2011 marathon, half marathon and marathon relay. A corralled start will provide a much more efficient and smooth start for everyone.  All participants will be assigned corrals based on race results submitted during the registration process. Color-coded race bibs will designate your assigned corral for the race. Marathon and half marathon participants will be asked to submit an estimated finish time, during the registration process.  Only results dated between April 1, 2009 and April 1, 2011 will be considered.  For first time half marathoners, a valid 10k result will suffice.  Marathon Relay participants must supply an estimated finish time. If no valid result is provided for the marathon, half marathon or marathon relay, the participant will be automatically placed in the final corral.

Elite Athlete Status
To qualify for an elite status start in the marathon or half marathon, athletes must have a marathon time of 2:40 or less for the men and a time of 3:10 or less for the women. For the half marathon, a time of 1:15 for the men and 1:30 for the women will qualify. A limited number of elite athletes will qualify for access to the VIP Tent, which includes personal gear check, food, stretching area and massage tables. If you would like to apply for elite status, fill out the form here and send to Race Director Brian Lyons. Forms may also be faxed to 314-727-0893.

Time Limit Rules
The marathon course route re-opens to traffic at a rolling schedule according to a 6 hour marathon pace or (13:44 minutes per mile) beginning 25 minutes after the official race start.  The marathon finish line will officially close at 1:25pm. The time limit rules will be strictly enforced, if you need clarification before registering, please call 314-727-0800.
  • There will be a pace leader leading a 6 hour, marathon pace or 3 hour half marathon pace (13:44 minutes/mile), after allowing an estimated 25 minutes for all participants to cross the start line.
  • Any Marathoner, Half Marathoner, or Marathon Relay participant who falls behind the pace after turning onto Olive Blvd (approximately 6 miles), prior to the Half Marathon Turnaround will be required to move to the sidewalk and obey all traffic signals.
