Volunteer Math Tutors Needed:

Volunteer Math Tutors Needed:
Volunteers from local Neighborhood Associations are developing an In-school math tutoring program for Roosevelt High School.
We are seeking additional volunteers to help tutor students during the school day. Initially, the program will assist students with basic math, pre-algebra, and algebra. During a volunteer tutoring session, each tutor will be placed with 2 to 3 students. The tutor will pull the same 2-3 students from their Algebra 150 class (one or two days a week) to provide more direct instruction in a smaller classroom setting. The tutor will be provided with a lesson plan for each session and all necessary materials for instruction. We are hoping to find individuals that would be willing to volunteer for two hours a day, one day or two days a week, for a semester at a time. We realize that this is a significant volunteer commitment; we are trying to create the most beneficial program for the students. A serious commitment from the volunteers as well as the students will be needed for success. If you enjoy helping young people and are able to assist with Algebra, please consider this opportunity. All volunteers will be required to complete a volunteer application from the St. Louis Public Schools, which includes a background check. If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information, contact: Katie Kappel katiekappel@gmail.com 314 910 0638 Please let me know what level of math you feel comfortable teaching and what days and times you might be available to volunteer.
