Volunteer Math Tutors Needed:
We are seeking additional volunteers to help tutor students during the school day.
Initially, the program will assist students with basic math, pre-algebra, and algebra.
During a volunteer tutoring session, each tutor will be placed with 2 to 3 students. The
tutor will pull the same 2-3 students from their Algebra 150 class (one or two days a
week) to provide more direct instruction in a smaller classroom setting. The tutor will be
provided with a lesson plan for each session and all necessary materials for instruction.
We are hoping to find individuals that would be willing to volunteer for two hours a day,
one day or two days a week, for a semester at a time. We realize that this is a
significant volunteer commitment; we are trying to create the most beneficial program
for the students. A serious commitment from the volunteers as well as the students will
be needed for success.
If you enjoy helping young people and are able to assist with Algebra, please consider
this opportunity. All volunteers will be required to complete a volunteer application from
the St. Louis Public Schools, which includes a background check.
