Project Blitz is Operation Brightside's annual campaign to clean up city neighborhoods. Blitz clean-up weekend is a great time to get together with your neighbors to clean up the alleys, streets and vacant lots in your neighborhood.

Blitz Info &Trash Instructions

On your designated Blitz Clean-Up Weekend, residents have all weekend to clean up. Bulky item pick up will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Monday after your Blitz clean-up weekend. Please follow these directions for proper disposal of items.

Placement of items

* Place all small items in trash dumpster. Be careful not to overload the dumpster.

* If you have a through alley: Place large items, such as appliances and furniture directly behind your home at the edge of the alley on your side of the alley. (This is your regular bulk pick-up site.)

* If you have a dumpster directly behind your house: Make sure your bulk items are at least four feet away from the dumpster. No large items should be placed next to or behind the dumpster.

* If you do not have an alley: Place large items in front of your home at the curb. (This is your regular bulk pick-up site.)

* Trash trucks will not be able to empty trash containers if there is any material placed within four feet of any dumpster or roll-out cart.

Trash pick-up will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Monday after your Blitz clean-up weekend.

* Please have all large items at your bulk pick-up site by 6:00 a.m. on Monday after your Blitz weekend

* Do not place any items at your bulk pick-up site more than three days prior to your Blitz pick-up.

* Some items will be recycled or reused and may be picked up by City trucks or salvagers. Please separate car batteries, used motor oil, large appliances and tires from household bulk items such as furniture or mattresses.

* Place grass, leaves, and branches smaller than 3” in diameter in the “Yard Waste Only” (Green Waste) dumpsters. Do not overload. Branches must fit completely into the container.

* Branches larger than 3” in diameter must be cut in lengths no longer than 3 feet, tied in bundles and the bundles should be placed with bulk items for collection.

Bulk item collection will begin on Monday after your Blitz weekend. If your items have not been picked up by Wednesday, call the Citizens Service Bureau at 314- 622-4800.

* If you have a roll-out cart: For BLITZ ONLY, bag your grass, leaves and twigs and mark as "Yard Waste" (Green Waste) for collection.
