Fw: Mason Elementary Second Grade Students with musicians from the St. Louis Symphony

Where:  Gym, Mason Elementary, 6031 Southwest Avenue Saint Louis, MO 63139
 When: May 23, 10am
You are invited to the cumulative performance for the St. Louis Symphony Adopt-a-School program at Mason Elementary.  This spring, second grade students at Mason participated in an intensive program teaching basic musical concepts as well as the instruments and families of the orchestra.  They received a visit from actor Michael Boudewyns, the narrator and actor of the St. Louis Symphony Education Concert of "Peter and the Wolf"; visited Powell Hall for a Kinder Konzert; sat on stage for an interactive percussion demonstration; and received visits from each instrument family of the St. Louis Symphony.  While learning the concepts of forte and piano, high and low pitch, and presto and largo, the students created their own musical motives for each character in the story "Peter and the Wolf".  The students will perform on Orff instruments on loan from Jazz St. Louis.
