Be sure the condemned house is properly secured that's what you can
do.  From the outside, it appears to be.  I've been homeless in my
lifetime, it's not illegal to be homeless.  That is railroad property
under the bridge though, perhaps they'd consider installing some
lights or something.  I would argue that homeless folks rarely

Maybe a concerned neighbor should be as interested in helping these homeless people figure out a solution to their very dire problem of where to take shelter. This problem is not going to go away, it's going to get worse as the lower and even middle class continues to be marginalized.

I live near Tamm & Southwest. I have also seen the homeless taking refuge under the bridge of 44/railroad on Southwest. I am more concerned about getting a flat tire in the morning from the empty liquor bottles that roll onto the street than the people taking refuge in the property at Tamm & Southwest. I have not seen a single person go in or out of that house in the more than six years I've lived in the neighborhood.

The house located at Tamm & Southwest is infested with pidgeons/other birds. I see multiple birds perched in the open top floor window on the back of the house. From what I understand, the property has become a very large birdhouse. I really doubt homeless people would be taking refuge in a house infested with birds and bird droppings, as well as dead birds in the chimney and other areas of the house. The birds and droppings carry and spread disease. Frankly, I'm more worried about the uncleanliness and possibility of disease than of homeless people staying there.

Just my two cents

Thank you, I called and made a report.  Apparently they've already been over to see them this morning.

Let the police know when you see them over there. I will check on what can be done other than informing the police to get them out of there.

Yes, I was wondering if I should call the police this morning because there was a man in a green sweater standing on southwest and I had to swerve around him.  As I looked in my rear view mirror I noticed another man coming from in between the 2 houses that are closest to the highway.  He was carrying a black bag and they started walking.  My first thought was that they were doing something wrong.  Then I realized who the man in the green was, he was the homeless man who was living under the Hampton bridge on manchester and about a week or so ago must have been kicked out or relocated.
Who should I call?

I called the police and they went and told them to move their stuff from the sidewalk. I will call tomorrow if they are there again. They have left a rash of trash there. And the other day when i wanted to talk with my daughter we had to walk in the street because they blocked the sidewalk with there queen mattress and 4 shopping carts, which were stolen. If you think i am wrong for calling the police i encourage you load them up in your car and drive them to larry rice's free shelters.

No it's not illegal to be homeless, however it is inappropriate for them to be on residential private property and it is also wrong for them to block a side walk, especially for those with disabilities who cannot drive and use sidewalks to get to a bus stop, and they cannot just cross the street easily. When I worked for a newspaper, we interviewed many different homeless people at different shelters/food banks. The one consistent thing they all said was to never give money to a homeless person, because if someone needs and wants help, the shelters/food banks can get you the help you need. Now I work in Social Service and there are so many programs to help people get off the streets, not just Larry Rice either. I agree that lending a helping hand is key in solving these issues, but it is wrong to blast someone for looking out for their home and neighbors.

I don't think anyone was "blasting" anybody. Just wondering where the compassion is. Are these lazy drugheads who refuse to conform to society, or are they folks who have been put out of their homes under a foreclosure because they were laid off from their job and can't find another? Don't condemn them or fear them until you know their story.
