East-West Gateway's Map of the Month -Change in Population Age 65 and Over

East-West Gateway’s January Map of the Month shows the change in population among those aged 65 and over, between the 2000 and 2010 US Census Surveys. Overall, during this time span, the senior population increased roughly 20,000 within the eight-county region. The areas that predominately lost citizens aged 65 and over were concentrated within the core of the region, bound by the 270 Freeway
west of the Mississippi River, and along the riverfront, north of Monroe County. The largest population increases of this demographic were found west of the 270 in St. Louis County as well as in St. Charles County, between the 64 and 70 Freeways.
