September 6: Starting and Governing a Nonprofit 501(c)3 in Missouri

Nonprofit Management & Leadership Program Class at UM-St. Louis
Course description: Starting a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and governing one are flip sides of the
same coin. Steps taken in forming a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation affect how the organization must
operate in the future. Steps taken in the governance and operation of the organization affect its ability to
maintain 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status with the IRS. Come to this intensive 8-hour class to learn how to
start a Missouri nonprofit corporation and maintain tax exempt status from the IRS. This class will focus
on practical information and resources like forms , web sites, governmental agencies to be aware of, and a
checklist of steps to take. This class also includes a lunchtime presentation by Assistant Attorney General
Bob Carlson with a list of do's and don'ts for nonprofits under Missouri law. Presenter: Dan Sise, JD,
