Seat Belt Campaign
This month the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has joined with the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) in strongly encouraging motorists to always buckle up. According to the MSHP, thus far in 2014, 63 percent of those killed in traffic crashes were not wearing a seat belt. Every fatality is someone's friend, sister, brother, parent, or child. A Missouri driver's chance of being killed in a traffic crash if not wearing a seat belt is 42 times greater than that of a driver who is buckled up. When adults wear seat belts, kids wear seat belts. So set a good example and buckle up for every ride; and be sure everyone in the vehicle buckles up, too. Buckling up on every ride is the single most important thing a family can do to stay safe in a motor vehicle.Upcoming Events
March 21 & 23 – 2014 NCAA® Division I Men's Basketball Second and Third Rounds, Scottrade Center, times varyNCAA® March Madness is coming to St. Louis. Catch the second and third rounds of the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship this Friday and Sunday at Scottrade Center in exciting Downtown St. Louis. When the final buzzer sounds, only the best will advance to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen®. Open practices will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday. March 21 – Third Friday Party, Third Degree Glass Factory, 6 p.m.
Third Degree Glass Factory will kick off spring with an emphasis on family fun at its free Third Friday Party this Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. Visitors will enjoy glassblowing demonstrations, card magic, balloon sculpture demonstrations, live music, face paining, fire spinning and more. March 21 -- Lenten Fish Fries, various locations, various start times
During the Lenten Season, many St. Louis churches and organizations offer Friday Fish Fries. These events are a great way to gather with family and friends and meet new neighbors. Here are a few to consider:
- St. James the Greater Fish Fry, 1360 Tamm, 4 p.m.
- St. Mary Magdalene Fish Fry, 4924 Bancroft, 4 p.m.

Gift shops from area attractions will gather their close-out, clearance and almost-one-of-a-kind items for a giant garage sale this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Louis Zoo in The Living World in beautiful Forest Park. Bargain hunters will find souvenirs, toys, books, clothing, artwork and more at discounted prices. March 22 – Night at the Museum, Gateway Arch, 6 p.m.
According to Ann Honious, the Chief of Museum Services at the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, the Night at the Museum event from 6 – 9 p.m. this Saturday will be one of the last major events the museum will host before its construction and renovation. The evening will feature historical characters dressed in period clothing who will share their tales of the settling of the American West and recount what life was like during these early times in American history. Tickets are $15 per person and include a tram ride to the top of the Arch and hot dog dinner. Space is limited and reservations are required. March 23 – Free Drop-In Tour, St. Louis Art Museum, 2 p.m.
The Saint Louis Art Museum is partnering with The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis to offer Museum visitors a one-hour docent-led tour this Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. Plan to visit before or after you see the Rep's Noises Off performance. March 27 – Grand Opening, Ballpark Village, 5 p.m.
The $100 million first phase of Ballpark Village will open its doors to the public for the first time on Thursday, March 27 with an opening ceremony at 5 p.m., followed by a private VIP party, and then a free concert for the public at 9 p.m. within FOX Sports Midwest Live! featuring national recording artist Third Eye Blind. March 29 – 4th Annual Old North Trivia Night, 2720 N. 14th Street, 7 p.m.

A training for Tower Grove South (TGS) residents, who are interested becoming part of the TGS Citizens on Patrol Team, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 27 at the Grand Oak Hill Building, 4168 Juniata. The training will take about 30 minutes and will be followed by a questions and answers period, as well as a chance to sign up for patrol shifts. Bring a curent photo ID with you.
