February 24: Legal Issues in Governing and Managing NPOs

Nonprofit Management & Leadership Program course at UM-St. Louis.
This core course, offered by the Nonprofit Management & Leadership Program course at UM-St. Louis, will examine important legal issues that confront nonprofit organizations, both from the perspective of the board of directors and that of managers. Students will learn the basic laws and legal concepts that govern the formation and tax-exempt status of nonprofit organizations. Other topics include nonprofit reform, comparisons of foundations and public charities, and director and officer liability. Classes will be held on Thursday  evenings beginning on Feb. 24 and ending on Mar. 24. This course can also be taken for one hour of undergraduate or graduate credit and can be applied to the Certificate in Nonprofit Management & Leadership.
