City employees to take furlough on Monday, May 9th City offices closed; trash/recycling schedule to change City offices, City Courts, and the Municipal Garage will be closed on Monday, May 9th during a scheduled City-wide furlough day. In addition to the five scheduled unpaid holidays, management and professional employees are required to take an additional five furlough days. Furloughs do not apply to uniformed police officers or fire fighters. Employees who are scheduled to work 24-hour operations, on Family Medical Leave, or who otherwise cannot be furloughed on the designated days will schedule the furlough at an alternate time before the end of the fiscal year. The City of St. Louis Refuse Division reminds residents with roll carts that the collection schedule will be adjusted to accommodate the furlough. Residents who normally have their roll carts collected on Mondays and Thursdays will have their trash collected on Tuesday, May 10th and recyclables collected on Thursday, May 12th. Residents who normally have their roll carts collected on Tuesdays and Fridays will receive trash collection on Wednesday, May 11th and recyclables collected on Friday, May 13th. The yard waste collection regularly scheduled for roll carts on Wednesday, May 11th is canceled due to the holiday. Roll cart yard waste collection will resume on its regular schedule on Wednesday, May 18th.
