July 13 - 14: Vote with Your Feet: A Teacher Workshop on St. Louis Local Government
The National Park Service is hosting a free workshop on local government for teachers on July 13-14, at the Crowne Plaza St. Louis Downtown. Participants will learn how St. Louis evolved into one of the most unique municipal environments in the United States. Sessions will cover the city-county split of 1876, government reforms, how local government works and current events. Participants will also have the opportunity to earn a $300 stipend for writing a lesson plan related to local government. Lunch and parking are free. Funding for the workshop is provided by the National Park Service’s “Teaching History and Civics Program.” For more information or to register, contact Peter Hovey at peter_hovey@partner.nps.gov or (314) 655-1637.
