Crime Alert-Suspicious BM in white panel van with Laclede magnet on door

Suspicious BM in white panel van with Laclede magnet on door
At 9:20 AM on 9/23/11, a retired Sheriff and brother of a dept employee observed a black male, 25-30 yrs old, with a scruffy beard, wearing an orange or yellow hard hat, a reflective vest over a dark t-shirt, and jeans, carry a bucket and loitering along the side of his house in the 5500 block of Milentz. When he tried to ask the subject what he was doing, the subject quickly left in a white panel Ford van bearing MO license 3YJ-641 without responding. The van had a Laclede Gas magnet placed on the driver’s door.
There are no gas hook-ups where the suspect was seen and Laclede had no employees in the area, no service calls there, and does not think it was one of their employees based on the vehicle description.
Other nearby residents were very concerned as well due to this subject’s suspicious behavior. The plates are expired and belong to a different vehicle which was sold from Enterprise Leasing last year. The buyer thought the plates were destroyed and there are no links to the plate in any systems that we can find.
Please keep an eye out for this van and call 911 if you see this subject or anything suspicious.
Thank you,
Officer Don Veile
