Courtesy post: Rash of car break-ins and thefts near Clifton Heights

I work at a business on Knox Industrial Drive, just to the north of I-44 from our neighborhood. There has been a steady stream of car break-in's and auto thefts from this street the last couple of weeks. One of the stolen cars has been tied to a fatal shooting on Christmas Eve outside of a Washington Avenue nightclub.

There is a lot of crime going on just a couple of blocks from Clifton Heights. Thought my neighbors would want to know.

Please don't leave anything in your car that might seem valuable to thieves. Put a Club on your steering wheel, and report any suspicious activity to police: non-emergency #314-231-1212

I just wanted everyone to know that I live in the 2600 block of Sulphur and in the last 2 years I have had my car broken into 3 times and it was sitting in front of my house and has an aftermarket alarm system that was bypassed. These are not kid pranks..it is someone who knows how to get around your alarm. We have a newer vehicle with tinted windows and a older model vehicle. They are only breaking into the newer one with the tinted windows. They go through your glove box if they can find nothing else. Just wanted everyone to be aware. With the cold weather don't leave the car running...we have also had a car stolen from in front of my house like that...and please make sure your doors are locked and NOTHING is left in the car to temp someone.
